What is the typical day curriculum like? The curriculum is thematic based, with themes being changed on a regular basis. Themes are relevant to the child’s world so that they have concrete experiences from which to learn. Experiences are provided to celebrate the diversity of each child. Activities and concepts are adjusted to meet the needs of the developmental age level of each group. Students participate in activities that develop their cognitive, physical, language and social-emotional skills.
Children will explore special interest centers through planned, purposeful play including blocks, housekeeping, science and nature, books, puzzles, art and writing. These hands-on experiences will enhance pre-reading, pre-language and pre-math skills. Gross motor skills, music and movement are also important to the child’s learning. All students join together in community to celebrate with music on Tuesday mornings.
Do you have any formal religious classes or instruction?
Our program is Christian based, and students are taught the basics of the Bible. Our three- and four-year-old students attend a short chapel time each week on Wednesdays. Students and their families are always welcome to join us for worship, Children’s Church and Sunday School on Sunday mornings!
What does your typical day look like?
Our morning starts with circle time which includes morning prayers, pledges, calendar time and much more. Each classroom follows a daily schedule, which varies by each class. Our program provides opportunities for children ages two to five-years-old to experience curriculum that builds good character, confidence, curiosity, community, critical thinking and creativity. Children explore concepts through small and large group activities, independent exploration and center-based learning. The preschool day also includes a morning snack and playground time.
